Based on resolver’s experience to date, gym memberships can be difficult to get out of. Even in the event that you can no longer afford to pay for your membership, your gym may not allow you to cancel without penalty.

If you are locked into a minimum contract term, you cannot cancel within that period without paying all the monthly charges for the term. However, if you believe that some of the terms and conditions of that contract are unfair, you may be able to force the gym to let you cancel without penalty.

If you are legally obliged to pay for remaining months on your contract, you must pay. But if you have requested cancellation of your contract and you are within your rights to do so, cancel your direct debit so they can’t take any more money from you.
