Based on resolver’s experience to date, The Association of Energy Suppliers (AES) Code of Practice has a strict set of rules that all energy salespeople must follow when selling face to face. In particular, it states that the salesperson must leave your home if you ask them to. The Code of Practice also states that the salesperson must not exploit consumers, give them false information, or use high-pressure sales tactics. The important thing to remember is, even if you’ve let the salesperson into your house, you are under no obligation to buy.

If you feel the salesperson has breached their Code of Practice, you should complain to the company they represent.

Resolver can help you to deal with any issues arising quickly, without hassle and for free! As a first step we can help you write your complaint. Click the link below to create your email.
Remember that this is a good time to check that you are on the best energy tariff for your needs using a price comparison website, so it’s a good idea to take some time to compare prices and switch providers if you find a better deal. As you are moving into a new home you may not have the full details for the energy use in the home so resolver recommends you ask the current owner/occupier for the energy usage via your solicitor or the estate agent.

Price comparison websites often have tools that help you estimate your energy usage and to help you make an informed decision.
